Details:
In evening twilight in the Edmonton area Jul 8/9, a spectacular NLC display emerged. It backlit an area of tropospheric cloud or forest fire smoke, giving the entire northwest part of the display an orange tinge. For awhile there were multiple zones of billow-type NLC, including the snake-like one in the photo.
