Details:
In 20 years of stargazing, this was my 3rd occultation of Saturn by the moon - and my best one. I enjoyed most of it just by watching though the eyepiece of a 12" dobsonian telescope under the clear and calm skies of La Serena, Chile. Just before immersion of the planet, I took this image. I held my Canon Powershop pocket camera directly to the eyepiece - and was amazed how well it the image resembles the sight!
