Details:
Solar quiet can be a good thing. After days of geomagnetic calm it was easy to see the geomagnetic response to Earth's crossing of the Solar Sector Boundary on my magnetometers in the UK. Had there been CMEs or strong gusts of solar wind at this time, then the magnetic data could have been swamped. Luckily the calm conditions allowed the event to be recorded in detail.
