Details:
It was another unusually cold winter night in SE Michigan when I headed out with high expectations for getting some wonderful aurora displays. When I arrived at my location the Kp was at 6 so I could clearly see the aurora glow in the sky above Portage Lake in Jackson County, Michigan. I set up my camera and took my first shot and saw a greenish yellow and violet aurora filling the to the NW of the lake. I stayed out for about 3 hours but it I never saw any display just the glow so I decided to move and try a shot through the grove of old oak trees between the parking lot and the lake to add something more of interest. Canon 5D Mark III, Sigma 20mm f1.8 at f2.0 for 20s ISO 1000
