Details:
Part of a flare event in AR1944. There is also a plume like filament coming out of the large spot. 20 minutes later, at 16:17 UTC, the flare had gone and the filament was a pair of fine strands. By 17:00 UTC, the filament had disappeared.
Solarmax 60II f/6.6, Canon XTi ISO 800, surface 1/800 sec. prominences 1/250 sec. East and West are reversed.
The surface and prominence shots are 5 layer stacks. Treated with Lynkeos' Lucy-Richardson algorithm and Photoshop for stacking, montage and colour.
