On a NL hunt with Explore!.
Left Reykjavík at 20:30 and it was very windy. Soon as we left the citylights behind I saw something that looked a bit like very faint NL so I stopped to investigate. Saw something that could be very faint NL, but too close to a busy road so we drove a bit further on a more quiet road. At first I was the only one to see anything, but somebody took a picture which was very green so I started to set up my camera, and as I was doing that the sky came alive with thick green glowing bands and quite a bit of movement. The main band was right across the whole sky and was very broad. Later on the activity slowed down but whirls and whorls became quite prominent.
In some of the pictures you see the glow (i.e. light pollution) from Reykjavík and the bright light is a work of art from the year 2000 by Claudio Parmiggiani. We were close to a road with traffic which also shows up
