Details:
This was a fine display of iridescent clouds near the Sun on December 10, 2013, as seen from White Sands National Monument in New Mexico. I was there to shoot the sunset and twilight colours but while waiting I saw these beautiful colours near the Sun as high altitude clouds passed by. Sunglasses helped make the colours visible to the eye, and underexposing a little in shooting helped bring out the colours as did boosting the vibrancy in processing. The colours are caused by diffraction of sunlight from similar sized droplets of water in the clouds.
