Details:
Here in the Northwest, it can be cloudy a lot of the time. Being an avid amateur astronomer, that often makes it difficult to observe meteor showers. However, meteors can be easily detected on an FM radio. I'm located in Marysville, Washington, and the FM transmitting station is in Portland, Oregon (about 200 miles south). Since I cannot receive that station from here, the static "white noise" is occasionally interrupted by a brief, clear signal when a meteor enters Earth's atmosphere between my antenna and Portland!
