I am sorry to hear that Comet ISON lost its argument with the Sun over the weekend, but because of my limited view of the eastern horizon I have been keeping an eye on Comet Lovejoy (C/2013 R1). This is the comet to watch for the rest of the month of December. Since I began observing this comet from Chile in early November, this comet has brightened considerably and grown a beautiful tail. It also has a beautiful blueish tint, just like its more famous brother ISON! This comet is easily found in binoculars and I believe I saw it with the naked eye just yesterday from Durham, New Hampshire only a few km from the University of New Hampshire! One image was taken with a Canon 20Da through a Canon 200mm lens and the image through the telescope was taken through a T85 with a Canon 60Da. Both Images were taken from the Blue Sky Observatory in Durham, NH
