Details:
The past few days have had considerable cloudiness and have made it difficult to photograph Comet C/2012 S1 ISON. With the moon potentially becoming more of a problem in the upcoming days, I went out early this morning and hoped there would be a break in the clouds. As I traveled to my photo location the clouds thinned. I waited and as twilight was beginning to brighten the eastern sky, I got a few minutes of mostly clear skies. But only a few minutes! Details: Nikon D700, ISO1600, Nikon 85mm/1.8 @f/2.8, 4s (cropped image) and 2s (full image). The third image is looking towards the west a few minutes later to give a sense of the extensive cloudiness that was present. I'll try again tomorrow. There should be fewer clouds but more moon light.
