A truly superb morning ! Together with my wife, her brother and her father, I drove a few tens of miles to a mountain range North of Targoviste, Romania. Here we set up to try and catch all four of the Autumn comets: R1 Lovejoy, S1 ISON, 2P Encke and X1 LINEAR. My wife photograph the sky with a fisheye lens while I photograph each of the comets with an 115 mm Refractor. All of us glimpsed all of the comets through 20x70 binoculars. The most difficult was 2P/Encke with a very small coma, followed closely by X1 LINEAR with a giant but very faint coma. S1 ISON was visible (only the coma) quite easily, but the most impressive and easy to see was R1 Lovejoy, which at times seemed to be visible with the naked eye. The morning sky entertained us also with a very long Zodiacal Light and also with a few meteors. Equipment: 8mm Samyang lens and Canon 550D for wide-field image. TS APO 115mm F/7 Refractor, Canon 550D, ISO 3200. Exposures are as follows: 20x30s (X1 LINEAR), 13x30s (Encke), 24x30s (S1 ISON) and 14x180s (R1 Lovejoy).
