Details:
This could be my last chance for shooting ISON for a while with our observatory 12.5" newt. The roll off structure has five foot tall walls and I can just get the comet with about half the aperture at 4 am, and by 5am barely the full aperture! The trees are very nearly that heigth too. ISON is still terribly faint, and the tail is considerably such. While I could just see the comet for the firs time with our 9 x 63 binoculars, It was only the tiny head, and nothing else. No tail seen visually. In this CCD image taken with my ST10xme, I can see the tail well, as a uniform strip of light of very low surface brighness. Not exactly the comet of the century, ay? This is a 30 minute combined exposure with 1 minutte subs.
