Details:
This image of C/2012 X1 (LINEAR) reminded me of another I took of comet 17/P Holmes, almost exactly 6 years before. Both comets were close to relatively bright stars (Holmes was close to Mirfak at mag 1.8 and LINEAR was close to SAO 82946 at mag. 5.6) As the saying goes, ''history repeats itself'' (well, almost!) North is up for the Holmes image and down for the LINEAR image. C/2012 X1 image: 16 inches F4.4 Newtonian with STXL-6303E, L 10x60s, FOV 54 x 36 arcminutes
