All in all October's been rather a good month for Auroras. During the past few weeks I've witnessed some wonderful displays of light here on the Lofoten Islands in Norway and with recent sunspot activity in the last few days it's looking as though things can only get better - let's hope so anyway.
It always gives me great pleasure when the 'Tricky Lady' makes an appearance and performs her magic. The best thing of all, however, is that just like a kaleidoscope no one Aurora is similar to another so as opposed to simply being a 'wish list' thing, it can become rather addictive - hence the reason that I have continued my own personal pursuit for so long - almost 5 years now.
These images were captured using a Canon 5D Mk III camera and either a Carl Zeiss 21 mm f/2.8 'Distagon' lens or a Sigma 15mm f/2.8 Fisheye lens. ISO settings ranged from 800 - 1250 and shutter speed from 4s to 15s. A tripod and wired shutter release was used on all occasions to increase stability and reduce vibration / blur.
