This is getting to be a great autumn for comets!! Some images I took of the comet outburst this morning from 0h44 to 01h15 UT with a 0.4m F4.4 Newtonian and a STXL-6303E. North is up and East is left. The coma is now 2.4 arcminutes in diameter. I combined 6 times 60s in each LRGB filters. According to The Sky, the comet was supposed to be mag 13.9, which is about the magnitude of the star close to the comet (GSC 1994:748) for comparison. I also included images treated with a rotational gradient of 17 degrees centered on the nucleus. One can see many jets, more than comet Holmes had in 2007 in the earliest stages of its outburst. Man, I love astronomy and its surprises!
