This photo shows the intense red, green & orange hues, the defined spikes and the incredible oval. This is one frame from a 40 minute time lapse I set up next to this small pond in central Maine. This image has been processed through Lightroom 4 & Photoshop CS5. @Dennis, this photo appears to be the same as the one posted on the 12th, same time, 8:50 PM. The one posted on the 9th says 8:41 PM, and is different. Whats really confusing is how Spaceweather lists them all as different days and times. I never noticed - probably since I rarely look at any astrophoto any more due to photoshop - that the time/date on the gallery thumbnails is apparently when they were submitted, not when taken. This helps the pros spread out the free advertising.

The reds are intense. How often in your experience do northern lights glow so brilliantly red? Im used to viewing green aurora pictures. thanks
