Despite a good deal of moonlight we had a wonderful display from 19.30 hrs through until 05.00hrs Nikon D40 10mm f2.8 fisheye

What an absolutely striking concept!! It appears as though the moon was recreated to contain all the light in the aurora, but still allowing the stars to peek through. I love the aurora borealis so I hope you do not mind my using your photo on my desktop in a timed display with other photos I consider uniquely beautiful.
