Partial lunar eclipse of 28 August 2026, photographed from Los Barruecos, Cáceres, Spain.
The image combines 30 frames following the Moon from first contact to maximum, when Earth's shadow covered 93% of the disk and turned it copper.
Earth's shadow appears twice in the same frame. On the Moon, 380,000 km away. And over the horizon, in the blue-grey band the same cone casts across our own atmosphere, crowned by the pink Belt of Venus.
The two only coincide if the eclipse ends at dawn.
Sony A7 III and Sky-Watcher 72ED for the lunar sequence. A 50 mm lens for the landscape.
