Details:
In this photograph, you can see the recent solar eclipse during one of its most spectacular phases: the so called diamond ring. For this unique and special moment, I wanted to give the image a different perspective, imagining what a solar eclipse might look like from the Moon, while humans are carrying out an expedition on its surface. A solar eclipse from another world. I chose this concept because of the renewed interest in lunar exploration in recent months and, especially, because of the momentum generated by the Artemis II mission, bringing us one step closer to one of humanity’s great challenges: returning to the Moon and, one day, establishing a permanent human presence there. The photograph was taken in Zaragoza, Spain, from approximately 200 meters away from the astronauts you can see in the scene. In reality, however, behind those spectacular spacesuits are my friends Ángeles and Juanjo. The highly realistic spacesuits, which are used in film productions, were kindly provided to me by Artefacto, making it possible to bring this idea to life and turn something that had previously existed only in my imagination into an image. A single exposure, capturing an attempt to transport the viewer to a future that, who knows, may one day cease to be science fiction.
