Details:
This composite image shows 14 stages of the total solar eclipse of 12 August 2026, photographed from Villares de Órbigo, León, Spain. The sequence follows the Sun as it descended toward the western horizon, with totality occurring only about 10° above the horizon. The final partial phases were strongly affected by atmospheric extinction as the Sun approached the distant hills. The camera intervalometer failed during the eclipse, so the individual frames had to be triggered manually, using timed alerts on a watch to maintain the planned sequence as closely as possible.
