The Tiangong space station (meaning "Heavenly Palace") is China's permanently crewed orbital outpost, operating in low Earth orbit since 2021. With a mass of about 100 tonnes, it typically hosts a rotating crew of three astronauts for six-month scientific missions focused on microgravity, bioastronautics, and space technology. The space station passed over at 9:31pm PDT after sunset here in Central California.
