On the morning of June 29 Comet 260P/McNaught was magnitude 14.8 with a coma 0.5' wide and a short tail 1' (0.0167 degrees) long. The comet will reach perihelion in its orbit 131 million miles from the Sun on August 5 and may brighten to magnitude 13. The comet will make its close approach to Earth 91 million miles away on November 9 but will have faded to magnitude 15.
