Details:
this image, captured by the Sharjah Astronomical Observatory, shows the giant sunspot AR4478, spanning approximately 190,000 km across the solar surface—making it significantly larger than Jupiter, whose diameter is about 140,000 km. In addition to AR4478, several other active sunspot groups are visible across the solar disk, highlighting the Sun's elevated level of magnetic activity. AR4478 is one of the largest active regions currently visible on the Sun and consists of multiple dark umbrae surrounded by lighter penumbrae, formed by intense magnetic fields. Despite its enormous size, its potential impact on Earth depends on the strength of any solar flares or coronal mass ejections it may produce, rather than its size alone.
