Yesterday, on July 16, 2026, from Seč Lake, Czech Republic, I was a witness to a Circumhorizontal Arch or "Fire Rainbow" among laypeople. This halo phenomenon is less common than the circular 22-degree halo; in the Czech Republic, it is even rarer. Why? Because for its occurrence, the Sun needs to be at least 58 degrees high over the horizon, which is only an "around-solstice" situation when the Sun gets just a little bit higher around noon on these days. And yesterday we had such specific clouds in the sky just at noon, so I was lucky enough to capture it over Seč Lake. It was so prominent that many people saw it very easily and were questioning later that day what they were witnessing. Nikon Z6III, Samyang 12 mm.
