Details:
Following days of hot humid weather with plenty of rain, a cold front moved through Northern Missouri on June 11, 2026 bringing with it a night of exceptional clarity. The sky quality meter read SQM-L=20.90 within the city limits of my small town. The airglow was particulary bright and active including greens and reds. I could not discern the airglow with my ageing eyes. I have black & white infrared time-lapse videos of the entire night showing the gravity wave movements of the red/purple ripples in the airglow. The green showed up best in normal camera long exposure photography. I am assuming that the gravity waves were induced by Severe Storms to the South. See YouTube video: https://youtu.be/ojdwWhkQCAk
