Details:
Sprites were appearing over a 51,000 foot very active thunderstorm near Topeka, Kansas, on June 9 at 0120 CDT. Lots of lightning. With the naked eye the sprites were just a faint afterimage. I captured one on video using an iPhone 14 Pro, Cinematic Mode, 30fps, at 39,000 feet, using a tiny tripod. The individual screenshot was only on one frame of the video, so the sprite was 1/30 of a second in duration. Beautiful. In the 26 second full video, the sprite is at 0:18.
