Above the Croix du Souvenir Français, Jupiter and Venus shine together in the night sky — the king of the gods beside the goddess of love and beauty.
In Roman mythology, Jupiter represented power, thunder, and destiny, while Venus symbolized love, peace, and human connection. Hanging above a battlefield memorial, their presence feels almost symbolic: strength beside compassion, war beside reconciliation.
It was a fascinating sight to see both planets almost perfectly horizontal above and beside the memorial cross on the Spicheren Heights.
