On 15 May 2026, I was in my garden, surrounded by the quietness of the Sicilian countryside, when, lifting my eyes to the sky, as I often do to search for these phenomena, I noticed a brilliant circumzenithal arc suspended above me. It was that arc that made me rush inside the house to grab my camera. With my camera in hand, I began running along the country road beside my home, searching for an open field that could reveal the entire composition the sky was creating at that very moment. As I ran, the display kept transforming before my eyes: the supralateral arc became increasingly vivid and, shortly afterward, a bright sundog appeared with its parhelic tail stretching outward until it intersected the supralateral arc. In those moments, I did not know whether to simply enjoy the spectacle or photograph it. Photography often distracts from observation more than one might imagine, especially during atmospheric phenomena that are so dynamic and constantly changing. Every second brought a new shape, a new detail, a new balance of light across the sky. The greatest surprise — the one that made me wag my tail even more than the sundog with its luminous tail, came when I saw a Parry arc forming above the upper tangent arc: probably the rarest phenomenon appearing within this extraordinary halo display. The entire spectacle lasted only twenty minutes. Then thicker clouds slowly advanced, covering the Sun and dissolving one by one all the arcs that had transformed my sky into a mosaic of light and ice.
