Details:
These frames capture a remarkably rapid auroral intensification this evening, likely associated with the expansion phase of a magnetospheric substorm. Over just a few minutes, a faint diffuse red glow evolved into bright structured curtains and rays as energetic particles were suddenly injected into the upper atmosphere. From a visual perspective this was a lovely thing to see, with dancing beams in the southern sky!
