Details:
Images taken on April 25 2026 of the region including Eratosthenes, Montes Carpatus and Stadius which is a ghostly remnant of an ancient lunar impact crater that has been nearly obliterated by basaltic lava flows. The images display also the Bode Region, including Rima Bode I.China has selected the Rimae Bode region on the moon for its first crewed lunar landing, aiming to touch down by 2030. Rima Bode is located near the lunar equator between Mare Vaporum and the central highlands. It has been chosen for its flat terrain and high scientific value, potentially unlocking insights into lunar geological history (As reported by Yang et al. https://doi.org/10.1038/s41550-026-02790-0). Two images are enclosed.
