Details:
The waxing crescent moon exhibiting earthshine met up in the sky with the Pleiades open star cluster twinkling to the left of the moon at 12:15 am AKDT (0815 UTC-8) on March 23, 2026. I caught the encounter while enjoying a campfire & some auroras in Hatcher Pass, Alaska as Luna and the “Seven Sisters” were setting behind the Talkeetna Mountains to the west. Pretty amazing conjunction when you consider how small these two celestial objects are (Pleiades less the 2º wide, Moon 0.5º wide).
