The Blue Ray on the Planet Venus On the evening of February 25, 2026, I waited for the planet Venus, bright on the western horizon, to set behind the mountains overlooking the Gulf of Palermo, Sicily. And the wait was worth it, because just before disappearing below the horizon, I was able to capture the blue ray on the last visible limb of the planet Venus. It was a thrill, because after photographing similar phenomena on the Sun and Moon, a blue ray on a planet was something I had missed, as it is a rare event.
