Details:
Comet C/2024 E1 (Wierzchos). imaged on February 13. 2026 while crossing the constellation Sculptor. was shining at around magnitude 7. Its intense emerald coma gives way to a long. narrow. slightly undulating blue ion tail extending more than 5 degrees across the field. Along its path. it appears just below the spiral galaxy NGC 300. a stellar system millions of light-years away. creating a natural contrast between vastly different cosmic scales. Three dust tails are also visible: two short ones forming a fan toward the northwest. and a broader. longer one about 2 degrees in length extending toward the northeast. Image obtained remotely from Coquimbo (Chile) using a 135 mm lens and an ASI 2600 MM camera. with a total integration time of 34 minutes.
