Details:
I just read about the appearance of auroral dunes during the last major storm. As soon as I learned about the CME heading towards Earth, I very hastily (before leaving for France for work) positioned a DSLR camera (Canon 700D full spectrum) with a 10/20 mm. lens in a NNW direction, with the little northern horizon available but with a protected setup. The camera recorded the event, despite the clouds, but compared to what was observed from other locations at my latitude (45° N), this aurora was quite disappointing, manifesting itself as a faint red diffused at about 30-40° above the horizon. Things were worse where I was, 50 km north of Strasbourg, France, under a thick fog that cleared only 2 days later (...), when I took several photos in which some faint green airglow also appears. Analyzing the photos taken at home, I noticed a ripple in two shots that I believe could be of auroral origin, between 00:37 and 00:39 a. m. local time (GMT+1), highlighted in the first two images, "stretched" with PS. The aurora was almost over and very faint (images #03 and #04, originals).
