Details:
I had read to expect a "moving stellar object" from one website and was gobsmacked when it was a long, bright (-1 to -3 magnitude) plasma trail sedately crossing the sky from NorthWest to SouthWest! Very glad I got up to watch, just from my driveway in the urban Los Angeles sprawl! Longer than Orion's Belt at peak, visible for about two minutes until it faded from visibility over the San Diego area.
