Only for a few days each year is it possible to observe Jupiter immersed in the colours of the Belt of Venus and the shadow of Earth.
This is exactly what we can admire on these evenings: while the Sun sets in the west accompanied by Venus, Mars and Mercury, all in superior conjunction ...on the other side of the sky, the Earth's shadow projected onto the atmosphere rises in the east accompanied by Jupiter.
This particular encounter suggests that on these evenings, the fourth brightest star in the sky is in opposition: opposite the Sun with respect to the Earth and therefore at its closest point to us for the year.
Single shot with Nikon Coolpix P510.
