Details:
On December 30 2025 I imaged the Humorum basin. The three large Hippalus rilles are crisply deliniated, marking the bend where Humorum lavas tilt toward the basin center. Many of the details visible here relate to the impact basin structure of the Humorum basin. The mare itself partially fills the basin depression. The rim of the basin is most clearly visible in a partial arc running from SW of Gassendi south towards Liebig. Basinward of this arc is a scarp, reaching almost to Doppelmayer, that marks where the basin center dropped downward. The dome of Doppelmayer (Doppelmayer 1) is emerging from the shadow. It is a lava effusion dome (see https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/abs/pii/S0032063307000037?via%3Dihub) reported in Raffaello Lena, Christian Wöhler, Jim Phillips, Michael Wirths, Maria Teresa Bregante, Lunar domes in the Doppelmayer region: Spectrophotometry, morphometry, rheology, and eruption conditions, Planetary and Space Science, Volume 55, Issue 10, 2007, Pages 1201-1217.
