Details:
I tried to capture a high-resolution image of the large group of sunspots (from left to right: AR 4296, 4294, and 4298) near the H-alpha band to look for Ellerman bombs. Normally, with the Saturn-M SQR (1" IMX533), I have no trouble fitting even very large sunspots into the frame. But in this case, I had to use my drifting technique, as demonstrated on my website and in this YouTube video: https://youtu.be/rQKCxB9R1-U
.
I obtained the base video and was able to register it directly with AS!4 because I kept a stabilization anchor visible at all times. However, the image was only sharp in the center. So, I registered the video in three segments and then stitched the results together. I used GIMP to apply an unsharp mask, then colorized the final image and added a to-scale Earth comparison using SolarGun.
The second image is the original registering of the movie in a single pass after drift.
