Details:
With all of the comet craze recently, I took a lone journey to a quiet corner and captured something pretty cool. Comet 240P/NEAT is a periodic comet with about a 7&1/2-year orbit. Back on October 3rd, it was noted that it has a fragment sidekick orbiting along the main body. A couple of nights ago, I set out to capture this pair. COMET 240P/NEAT & B November 20, 2025 3:20 to 5:20UT Celestron 11” SCT with SBIG STT-8300 monochrome CCD 60 total 120-second exposures (2 hours) 2x2 bin -35C Processed with CCDSoft, PIPP, and Photoshop 2025 Final field of view is roughly 12’x12’ 104 million miles away Approximately 12th-13th magnitude
