Details:
One of the defining features of the recent aurora super storm was the active green proton aurora bands and blobs. I kept seeing bright patches in the main glow of the aurora. They would form as bright blobs and then quickly expand, move and dissipate. At one point during one of the peaks of the storm, the bright blobs formed into a bright greenish-white band low in the aurora curtain. I was able to capture a panorama of the display. It lasted for just a few seconds. It was an amazing sight and an absolute wonder and joy to behold. It is fascinating to see how each different aurora super storm has its own defining characteristics. November 11, 2025 at 7:45 - 10:00 pm local MST time (2:45-5:00 UTC NOV12 2025) Nikon D750, 14mm lens for the pano / also 100 mm lens for some of the close ups. 3 second exposures.
