Details:
Last night the auroras were so bright, we didn't need our headlamps to hike around one of the darkest national parks in the US! The green auroral band was bright and directly overhead, making finding the trails in Badlands National Park easy. We caught a couple substorms of spectacular pillars that really completed the photography scene we sought to capture. While these auroras seemed to have less pulsating and movement compared to past G4+ displays, it was still a delight to get to stand under such vibrant lights! This display had the brightest reds I've ever seen in 15 years of aurora chasing. Even the touristy dinosaur statues at Wall Drug got to enjoy the show!
