Details:
I was just about to go to bed when I checked the spaceweather.com website and saw that a severe G4 storm was underway. I ran outside and was disappointed to see only clouds in the sky. But with a Kp index of 8 I had to go to my dark sky spot and hope that the clouds cleared. For the most part they didn't but as the night went on there were a few breaks in the cloud cover and I was still treated to a wonderful show and could make out the red color with my naked eyes. All images: Pentax KF; Rokinon 16mm lens; ISO 800; f/4; 60s exposure (except the last image which was 30s exposure).
