Details:
Comet Lemmon rises through the aurora glow in the northeast from Trapper Creek, Alaska a little after 6 am on October 21, 2025. I first learned about the comet on Spaceweather and have been using the provided sky maps all week to try nailing down this little bugger. Between clouds, overly bright auroras, and mountains it’s been a bit of challenge, but it’s all about the hunt! During today’s closest approach to Earth, the comet is star trekking through the constellation Boötes “The Herdsman,” which includes Arcturus, the bright star near the bottom of this image.
