Details:
Tonight the auroral oval arrived earlier than usual, which proved fortunate as clouds soon began to gather. Just after sunset, a vivid green glow emerged in the eastern sky and rapidly expanded westward, forming a sweeping arc. Soon the display intensified into radiant curtains of green and magenta, with streaks of crimson shooting upward in a dramatic fan-like burst across the stars. In an extraordinary twist, rare hues of violet and blue also appeared, blending into the aurora — something I witnessed for the very first time. This photograph was taken at Geitafoss waterfall in Fossholl, Iceland, where the rushing water and rugged lava rocks provided a striking foreground to the luminous sky
