Details:
Comet C/2025 R2 (SWAN) continues to slowly get higher above the horizon in the twilight evening sky as observed from Arizona. These images from 9/24 and 9/26 were both taken just below an altitude of 5 degrees and appear to show the comet increasing in brightness over the past several days as reported elsewhere. The color image shows the comet near 3 stars (star magnitudes marked) which provides one the opportunity to compare the brightness of the comet's brighter inner coma with the brightness of the 3 stars. The Astrometrica software uses all stars in a larger image to compute the comet's brightness in the 3.5' (0.06 degrees) wide aperture circle around the comet, basically calculating all the comet's observed coma brightness in this image.
