Details:
On a plane from RDU to ORD. About 30 min into the flight, a set of parhelic circles appeared. The photos, alas, are taken on an iPhone 15 through the plane's window. (You can see scratches in the window plastic in the photos, so maybe not good enough quality for the web site.) But what a show it was for at least 20 minutes. I have a brief movie that shows ice crystals flashing by the window (can't upload). Interestingly, the flashes were NOT visible with the naked eye. Too fast, I guess. The low, white, bright spot centered horizontally in the image was a reflection off of a cloud deck much lower than the plane. I wish I had thought to try to place a little piece of paper or tape on the window to block the sun itself and allow the camera to adjust to the rest of the image.
