Details:
I decided to image Ceres in Cetus the other night and revealed a curious issue. I have 2 PCs in the house, one for acquiring the data and one for processing. Both run the same planetarium software, seemingly the same version. I used the data acquisition one to locate Ceres and imaged the relevant star field. Fine. I then processed the data on the other PC and the planetarium software on that one showed Ceres in a different place. I checked with the web version and that was different again. I then updated the orbital parameters on the processing PC and that brought it into line with the other one. Curious. I would have thought the orbital parameters well enough known so that this wouldn't happen, especially for the on-line web version.
So was I imaging the right thing? The foolproof way of finding this out is to do 2 timelapse images and look for movement. So that is what I did, and here they are.
