Details:
I got lucky while out before dawn to photograph the lovely conjunction of the old crescent Moon with bright planets Venus and Jupiter. I was on a bluff above Buffalo Bill Reservoir west of Cody Wyoming, hoping to use reflections in the lake to augment the skyscape . The International Space Station appeared and was passing right thru one my frame. I had just enough time to alter the exposure to an 8-second length to capture the station streaking by at 5:32:54 AM Mountain Daylight Time. Heavens Above website later showed the Station was passing over Minneapolis and Duluth , Minnesota at the time, roughly 950 miles line of sight distant. The landscape scene was shot using an old Nikkor 24mm manual focus wide angle lens on a Nikon D5300 dslr. Exppsure was 20 secs. at f4 or maybe 5.6 using ISO 1600 daylight color balance. The planet mercury is visible at lower left ( barely ! ) , while the bright star reflected in the lake at lower right is Procyon. The Moon Planets ISS were shot on my other D5300 camera with a Nikkor 70-200 mm zoom set to 120mm eq. focal length , 8 secs. at f/8
