Details:
Out on a bike ride I noticed a strong horizontal rainbow above the mountains. It looked like a sundog, but it was a double sundog, because this horizontal band of color was well below the sun (46 degrees or so) and there was a full halo at 22 degrees. I think it is called a circumhorizontal arc. It was quite bright and easy to see, and lasted for a good 15 - 20 minutes. Surprising to see this on a hot summer day with a surface temp around 100 deg F.
