Details:
This was a great event of an extended odd-radius display. The phenomenon contains even more components than just the 22 degree halos and that small 9 degree mystery halo. There are also 18, 23 and 35 degree halos present. These are all formed in the pyramidal ice crystals. These halos are created by different light paths in the crystals. Due to the pyramidal shape, there are multiple refracting angles present which lead to correspondingly different sized halos. These are all quite rare halo forms, but the 35 degree halo is really very rarely observed. All of these halos can be (and apparently are) formed in one and the same crystal form. By enhancing the image, the halos become somewhat better distinguishable.
